Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who gave us Your TORAH, Your Word, Your instructions, Your teachings, Your directions for us to follow.  Through the power and anointing of “Ruach haKodesh”, the HOLY Spirit, You have written TORAH, Your Word, on the pages of our hearts, that we might walk in holiness and righteousness before You.  ABBA Father, let our lives SPEAK, that all would KNOW to whom we belong.  In the Name that is above all names we pray, Y’shua of Nazareth, our Messiah King, AMEN!

Open to the Day

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who fills my lungs with YOUR breath every morning, who gives light to my eyes as they open to the day, and anoints my ears to hear the sounds of the world.  ABBA Father, I am very aware that without You, there is no life, no life worth living, and I choose to give thanks for all of the simple, yet necessary things that I tend to take for granted.  The air that I breathe, the light from my window, the soft carpet when my feet hit the floor, even the alarm clock that notifies me another day’s routine is beginning – all of these ultimately come from Your hand.  I give thanks, my Adonai, for every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of all Light, that Father of all LIFE, who never changes.  Hallelu-YAH

“… For his mouth speaks what overflows from his heart.”  (Luke 6:45 CJB)

Avi, my ABBA, my heart is overflowing.  Words seem so inadequate; to say ‘I love YOU’ is insufficient, it does not begin to express the wealth of emotion within me toward You.  You are the breath that I draw, for without You, there is not breathing.  You are the light and the delight of my eyes, for my with my eyes I look upon all that You have created, and all that You continue to do to bless and honor Your children.

You are the beat of my heart, for You are the One that formed me within my mother’s womb.  You continue to monitor this heart, making sure it functions in the capacity for which You created it.  You are the sweet fragrance in my nostril, letting me know that You are near, the gentle touch upon my head.  With my hands, I reach out to You, and You take me by the hand, leading me and guiding me in the paths of righteousness.

You are my “Joy unspeakable and full of GLORY” (1Peter 1:8), my “Bright and Morning Star” (Revelation 22:16), and my “Lover and Beloved” (Song of Solomon 2:16).  You are the ‘El Yeshuati’, the God of my Salvation (Isaiah 12:2), and I rejoice in that I belong to YOU!

“My heart is overflowing with good news. I will direct my song to the king.” (Psalm 45:1 GWT

WHOM Do You Know

“Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. TEST AND PROVE YOURSELVES [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and KNOW [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected? (2Corinthians 13:5 Amp, emphasis mine)

How do you gauge the extent of your KNOWLEDGE?  Whom do you KNOW?  Who do you hang out with?  What are you certain of?  What can you test and prove within yourself, and evaluate against the standard of the Torah, the Word of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?  What is the ONE statement that you can make that you know is absolute truth, nothing but the truth, so help you, YHWH?

“For I KNOW that my Redeemer and Vindicator lives, and at last He [the Last One] will stand upon the earth …. Whom I, even I, shall see for myself and on my side! And my eyes shall behold Him, and not as a stranger!” (Job 19:25, 27 Amp, emphasis mine)

Blessed are You, LORD our God, King of the Universe, who IS wisdom, and gives us wisdom, when we ask in faith, believing we receive.  Thank You, Father, for Your unfailing and never ending wisdom.  When we stop to consider it, You are teaching us common sense, the practical application of the knowledge you have given us.  How awesome are Your ways, Lord, and Your patience with us! What an amazing ABBA Father You are, for You are training us in the way we should go!  Hallelu-YAH!

My Desire

“TAKE DELIGHT in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.”  (Psalm 37: 4 NLT, emphasis mine)

Mankind, just by being human, are by nature SELF-centered – focused entirely on having MY needs met, MY wants fulfilled, MY desires catered to.  Once an individual enters into Adonai Elohim’s kingdom, the focus should then become completely opposite; WE (or ME) are no longer the center of attention or importance.  It is no longer ‘all about ME’; it is now ‘ALL ABOUT HIM.  As we turn our eyes on Him, and allow our Creator and God to become the desire of our life and heart, then taking care of our desires becomes important toYHVH.

This word ‘delight’ translated from the original Hebrew, is the word ‘αΊnag’ (Strong’s #H6026), and included in the meaning is the essence of being soft AND pliable, delicate and dainty of habit.  So not only are we to take exquisite delight and great pleasure in our Father God, we are also to be happy and merry as we remain pliable, moldable, easily shaped and bent on the Potter’s Wheel (Romans 9:20-21).  We can only be successful in this endeavor by continuing to trust, and by knowing HIM whom we trust in, and that He is faithful.  Just as He is our delight, we are His, and He will always be a rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM (Hebrews 11:6).

“If you return to the Almighty [and submit and humble yourself before Him], you will be built up; if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents, If you lay gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brook [considering them of little worth], And MAKE THE ALMIGHTY YOUR GOLD AND [THE LORD] YOUR PRECIOUS SILVER TREASURE, THEN you will have DELIGHT IN THE ALMIGHTY, and you will lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to Him, and He will hear you, and you will pay your vows. You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.”  (Job 22:23-28 Amp, emphasis mine)

“Adonai … DELIGHTS in the prayers of the upright.”  (Proverbs 15:8 CJB, emphasis mine)

Avi, our ABBA Father, we turn our eyes upon YOU.  You are our desire, our delight, and we focus upon YOU, not upon Your hands, upon what You can give us, nor upon what You can do for us.  We offer You our thanks, for who You are, and for what You are:  our Father, our Creator, our Redeemer, our Beginning, our End, the very breathe that we draw, the every beat of our hearts.  There is nothing, there is no one without You … we give You our hearts, our lives, all that we are, willingly, for we belong to You.  May we be YOUR light, Your hands, Your voice, as YOU see fit, Adonai, Master.  In the Name that is above every name, Y’shua, our Messiah, Amen and AMEN …

Only You

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who gently calls to me to come, come and fellowship, come and let You LOVE on me.  It never ceases to amaze me that You might desire my company more than I desire Yours, and Your presence is the one place that I can never get enough of. Oh, my Father, my YHWH, my Adonai, my King, my Elohim.  You are the every breath that I draw, the every beat of my heart.  “Better a day in your courtyards than a thousand [days elsewhere]. Better just standing at the door of my God's house than living in the tents of the wicked.”  “Elohim Chayim”, You are the LIVING God, and I worship You.

And Yeshua grew both in wisdom and in stature, gaining FAVOR both with other people and with God.(Luke 2:52 CJB, emphasis mine)

Let not kindness and truth forsake you – Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, Thus finding FAVOUR and good insight In the eyes of Elohim and man.” (Proverbs 3:3-4 The Scriptures [ISR], emphasis mine)

For many years, most of us have been taught friendship with the world means being an enemy to YHVH(see James 4:4), and to a certain extent, this is correct.  However, ‘favor’ is something completely different from friendship.  Noah Webster defines ‘favor’ as:  “to regard with kindness; to support; to aid or have the disposition to aid; to wish success to; to befriend; to encourage; to be merciful to” (American Dictionary of the English Language, Noah Webster, 1828).

Favor with ABBA Father is evident every time a prayer or petition is answered, every time a need is met, and a care is dealt with.  Favor with Adonai Elohim is His grace: undeserved, unearned, freely and lovingly given.

Favor with man is found when doors are now open that no man could possibly have opened.  Favor is when trust is established where there has never been trust before, and the Word of the Lord is received where it has always been previously rejected.  Favor does NOT mean that everyone will like us; Messiah Y’shua had favor, and the Word says that “He was despised and rejected by men” (Isaiah 53:3).  When we walk with favor and integrity with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, HE will see to it that we walk with favor and integrity with man.

Do we need this favor to fulfill YWHW’s work here on earth?  If Y’shua walked with favor, should we not do so also?  But what are the conditions WE need to meet to walk in the FAVOR of God?  To those of us who profess to be born-again of the Spirit, it is really very simple:

“… also they recognized them as having been with Yeshua.” (Acts 4:13 CJB)

We thank You, Avi, Father, that we are YOUR lights to a lost and dying world.  Help us to shine as You would have us shine; help us always to remember that we represent You, that we reflect Your image, and who You are.  Let us show forth Your love, as You showed it first to us, and let the world see Y’shua in us.  In the Name of HIM, Your precious Son, Y'shua HaMashiach, we pray, Amen.

None Like You

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who orders my steps, one step at a time, one by one.  You bring calm out of chaos, peace out of panic, and a sense of direction from total disaster.  You are the ‘El Roi’, the God Who SEES, and to know that Your eyes are fixed upon me, caring for me, is beyond my comprehension.  “Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the mighty? Who is like unto Thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”  There is NO ONE, no one like our YAH, like our ABBA Father.  Hallelu-YAH!

For ALL Eternity

O Lord, YOUR NAME is eternal; and the memory of you will have no end.”  (Psalm 135:13 BBE, emphasis mine)

In the Hebrew language, a person’s ‘name’ is not JUST for identity purposes, so that others can recognize who he/she is.  A person’s name is a description of WHO, and WHAT, that person is; the name will say something about the character of the individual.  So, when YHWH Elohim is telling us that HIS name is for all eternity, He is also telling us that the person BEHIND the name is of a continuous existence, and will never cease to be.

The “El-Gibbor”, the ALL-Mighty God, will always be ALL-Mighty, for that is His character, and that is His name.  The “El-Shaddai”, the ALL Sufficient God, will always be ALL Sufficient, willing to meet ALL of our needs, for that is WHO He is.  He is the “El Yeshuati”, the God of our Salvation, for that is also His name, and from everlasting to everlasting, that will never change.  And He is the “El Olam”, the EVERLASTING God, the One who has no beginning, and no end, the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Isaiah 43:10; Hebrews 1:10-12; 13:8).  Hallelu-YAH!  This is something to rejoice AND shout about!

“But you, O Lord, are eternal; and your name will NEVER come to an end.”  (Psalm 102:12 BBE, emphasis mine)

In The Night

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who gently speaks to me in the dark hours of the night, teaching me, and giving me instructions on things I need to know.  You even fill my heart with a song, and when I wake in the morning with a hymn of praise on my lips, I know my ‘YHWH Elohim’ has visited me, giving me HIS ‘song in the night’.  I find answers to questions, decision where there was indecision, and resolve where there was wavering.  Truly, You are the “El Hannora”, the AWESOME God, our 24/7 God, for You never slumber, and You never sleep!  Awesome, so awesome, is WHO You are!

I Do Not Change

All Scripture is breathed by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work.” (2Timothy 3:16-17, The Scriptures, ©ISR)

For I am the Lord, I do not change …” (Malachi 3:6 Amp)

I have been born again for approximately 30 years, and have been teaching YHVH’s Word, either in writing, or orally, for more than 20 years.  For several of those 20 years, I devoted time to the research of the origin of the Christian Bible, as to how and when it was translated.  Accuracy is always questionable, especially when we look at all of the many versions available today.  There are many reference books available for the reader on this subject; I will not engage in a debate as to who, what, when and why.  It is because of the research that I have done that I now limit my Bible use to a few select translations: the Complete Jewish Bible (translated by David Stern) together with Jewish New Testament Commentary, also by David Stern; the Jewish Study Bible, Tanakh Translation; and The Scriptures (translated by the Institute for Scripture Research.  Though there are other versions that I use through the different Bible study software loaded on my computer, these three are the dominant ones I use in my personal study time, as I believe they are the most accurate.

Our God chose a Hebrew nation as HIS own ‘special treasure’ (Exodus 19:5-6), and gave His Word, His ‘divine instructions in righteous and moral living’ (what is known as the ‘TORAH’), to these people, this nation.  Further writings (as spoken by YHVH), compiled by the prophets and scribes through the centuries, have completed their ‘TANAKH’, from which the Biblical Old Testament originated.  The accuracy of the present day Hebrew ‘TANAKH’, preserved through the centuries, has been verified through the Dead Sea Scrolls, virtually word for word.

YHVH sent Messiah Y’shua, a Jew, to be a Savior, Redeemer, and Deliverer, to the Jew first, then to the whole world.  Y’shua is STILL a Jew, and will be coming back to receive HIS bride to Himself AS A JEW.  The first disciples were Jews.  The Rabbi Sha’ul (Apostle Paul) was a Jew, AND a Pharisee.  God has not forgotten the Jews, and cast them aside; on the contrary.  According to Hosea 2:19-20, He says:

I will betroth you to me FOREVER; yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in grace and in compassion; I will betroth you to me in faithfulness, and you will know Adonai.” (CJB, emphasis mine)

There are many ‘forever’s’ found throughout the Word of God, and simply put, means that the specific principal being addressed will never change.  EVER.  Our Adonai YHVH does not change His mind about some things, and concerning His people, Israel, He will always remain firm.  The Christian ‘church’ has not taken their place.  We have now been grafted IN to the main branch, and are now a part of the spiritual Israel.  Let us always remember that we are merely branches grafted in, while they will always be the root  (Romans 11:16-20).  And may we NEVER forget that Messiah Y’shua is the vine, and Adonai YHVH is the vine-dresser (John 15:1)…

My YAH Reigns

Blessed are You, YHWH our God, King of the universe, who not only set the sun, moon, and stars in their place, but set in order the pattern for their coming and their going.  No matter the circumstances and situations of my personal life, I know that as long as my YAH reigns, the sun will rise in the east, set in the west, and the moon will shine its light in the night sky.  As I look to the east, and watch the sky beginning to lighten with the coming dawn, I anticipate Your imminent return.  You are MY “El Elyon”, the Most High God, and I am very thankful, very grateful, that I am Your child.  Your ways are truly higher than mine, and excellent above all the earth!

WHO Are You Hearing?

“What has been is what will be, what has been done is what will be done, and THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN. Is there something of which it is said, “See, this is new”? It existed already in the ages before us.”   (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 CJB, emphasis mine)

When the serpent appeared to Eve in the Garden, his plan was to twist and pervert the WORD that YHWH had given to these first humans, causing them to doubt the sincerity and integrity of the Father (see Genesis 3:1-5).  When Messiah Y’shua was tempted in the wilderness by the adversary, it was the same plan and purpose that was used in the Garden.  Twisting and perverting the TORAH, the WORD of God (see Luke 4:1-13), the adversary tried to trick and trap our Lord.
Please understand, brothers and sisters, our adversary (the devil) is very familiar with the WORD of YHVH, and knows it backwards, forward, and inside out.  He has studied God’s Word since it was first spoken, which is why he is able to so easily pervert and twist it.

Cults and false religions are started by well-meaning people taking one (or more) scriptures out of context and starting a doctrine from them.  It is easy; history bears the accuracy of my statement with records of Waco, Texas, and the Jim Jones tragedy in Guyana, South America.  But let us consider our PERSONAL lives:  how often do we pick and choose the verses in the TORAH, the Word of God, which we like, then discard or ignore much of the rest?  How often do we allow the enemy to come and whisper to us, “Did YHVH really say that?”

Brethren, we MUST be careful WHO we are hearing.  Yes, there are parts of the Word of God that I would like to ignore, but to do so would mean disobedience to my ABBA Father.  His Word tells me that ALL flesh must die (Romans 7:18), that the spirit may live (Galatians 6:8).  We do not have the prerogative of picking and choosing what parts of the Word we will keep, and what parts we will forget.  If we call ourselves “Disciples of Messiah Y’shua”, we are not allowed to tickle our ears (2Timothy 4:3-4) with any doctrine that seems comfortable.  We must take the Word of God in its entirety; ALL of it, for it will bring health to your body and give strength to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:8 CJB)

“My son, obey your father's command, and don't abandon your mother's teaching.  Bind them always on your heart, tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you wake up, they will talk with you. For the mitzvah [commandment] is a lamp, Torah is light, and reproofs that discipline are the way to life.”  (Proverbs 6:20-23 CJB, insert mine)

“ALL SCRIPTURE is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.”  (2Timothy 3:16 CJB, emphasis mine)

“The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.”  (Psalm 119:130 Amp)

To Hear

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who has blessed us with the gift of hearing.  To be able to hear the multitude of different sounds that You have created – from the whisper of a gentle breeze in the tree tops, to the roaring thunder of the majestic Niagara Falls – we give You thanks, YAH, for this gift.  Hearing, we hear Your voice, the still, small voice with which You lead and guide us.  Thank You, ABBA, for all of Your words of love and encouragement – words that we treasure and keep close to our hearts. May we always be like the young Samuel, and respond with:

“Speak, for Your servant hears.”

Draw Near

“… let us DRAW NEAR with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”  (Hebrews 10:22 NKJV, emphasis mine)

The Greek translated for us in this verse as ‘draw near’ is from one word: “proserchomai” (Strong’s #G4334), and has a rich meaning to it.  Within the phrase ‘draw near’, we find the concept of coming TO someone, approaching them, with the desire to have a conversation.  When used in reference to Adonai YHWH, the phrase implies “coming to God, drawing near to Him in prayer, sacrifice, worship, devotion of heart and life, with the intention of becoming His disciple and follower” (Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament ©1992).

However, there is FIRST a condition that must be met BEFORE we are able to draw near to our ABBA Father.  We must appropriate for ourselves the cleansing blood of Messiah Y‘shua, and allow His blood to remove all of the sin stains that are still lingering upon us.  Only as we come with a sincere and true heart in genuine repentance – not remorse, for there is a difference – will we find the Father waiting with robe and ring for His prodigal children (see Luke 15:11-32).

Brothers and sisters, the time is growing shorter.  YHWH is calling.  He is longing for those who desire to spend their time with HIM, not for what is IN His hand, but simple for WHO He is – the lover of their souls …

DRAW ME, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.”  (Song of Songs 1:4 WoY)

“Come close to God, and he will come close to you.”  (James 4:8 CJB)

The Invitation

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who invites us to come, and BE with You.  You never force us; You invite us, but with the invitation is the promise of a loving welcome, and fellowship like no other.  You provide for us a place of security and rest, a calm haven from the storms of life.  You are our Father; we are Your children.  It is to You that we run, not for what is in Your hand, but because of what comes from Your heart.  We love You, adore You, our ABBA, and we thank You for WHO You are.

No Account

“{Love}… takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].”  (1Corinthians 13:5 Amp, insert mine)

There is recounted for us a story in the Old Testament, of how ten brothers, jealous of a younger one, sold THIS brother into slavery, never expecting to see him again (Genesis 37:12-36).  ‘But GOD had other plans, and working all things together for the good of everyone concerned (Romans 8:28), used these circumstances for the deliverance of the entire family, teaching a significant lesson to all concerned.  This younger brother, Joseph, rose from the status of a lowly slave in a prison, to that of prime minister of ALL of Egypt, never holding a grudge against his brothers for what they did to him (Genesis 45:5-9; 50:19-20).  Joseph’s trust was in his Adonai Elohim, knowing that God would turn all things around for good, because he trusted in the One who cannot lie (The Lord was WITH Joseph – Genesis 39:2-3, 21,23; 41:38).

I have asked myself if I should ever find myself in a similar situation, and the same ‘shoe was on my foot’, would I be so generous and forgiving?  We know that it is possible to BE that way, for we have Joseph as one example, and Messiah Y’shua as another.  Y’shua Himself tells us that we are to “love our enemies; bless those cursing us, do well to those hating us; and pray for those ABUSING AND PERSECUTING US, so that we may become sons/daughters of our Father in Heaven” (Matthew 5:44-45).

Those of us that live in the United States have been blessed with a freedom that many in the world do not have, and often we take this freedom for granted.  But as the days before our Messiah King’s return grow increasingly shorter, we too, may suffer persecution for the stand that we choose to take in HIS NAME, Y’shua HaMashiach, Y’shua of Nazareth.  Will we take ‘no account’ of the wrong done to us?  Will we continue to walk in the love and forgiveness of our Lord, toward those that come against us, because of WHO we belong to?

“Beloved friends, let us love one another; because love is from God; and everyone who loves has God as his Father and knows God.”  (1John 4:7 CJB)

Don't let love be a mere outward show. Recoil from what is evil, and cling to what is good. Love each other devotedly and with brotherly love; and set examples for each other in showing respect…Bless those who persecute you — bless them, don't curse them!”  (Romans 12:9-10,14 CJB)

No Offense

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who reveals to me the importance of releasing EVERY hurt and offense, real or imagined.  You have shown me that I cannot nurse these offenses, hold them close to my bosom, for they will become a cancer, and ultimately destroy me. Looking to the example of Messiah Y’shua, I must choose to release every hurt and offense, and walk in complete forgiveness toward others – then and only then can You forgive me for all of my sins and failures.  ABBA – Father – forgive me for all that I have held on to, in my self-righteousness and pride.  Thank You for cleansing me, THIS day, as I walk in newness of life, life everlasting, and joy unspeakable.  Hallelu-YAH!

MY Support

“I took my rest in sleep, and then again I was awake; for the Lord was my support.” (Psalm 3:5 ERV)

Not too many years ago, on a trip to Las Vegas, my husband and I took some ‘time out’ to visit Hoover Dam.  Construction was, at that time, in progress on the Hoover Dam Bypass Project, which consisted of an ENORMOUS bridge a short ways downstream of the dam.  The purpose of this bridge was to eventually carry the bulk of traffic back and forth from Nevada and Arizona, diverting them away from crossing over the narrow dam.

The span of this bridge was awe-inspiring, and I did not envy the workers up there at that height.  I later learned (thank you, Wikipedia!) that the bridge is some 900 feet above the Colorado River (gives me the shudders), and is the longest concrete arch in the western hemisphere.  It is the first of its kind to be built in the United States – a concrete and steel composite arch bridge – and is the second highest bridge in the nation.

Without that foundation of concrete and steel, there is no possible way this amazing bridge would be in existence.  There has to BE the support system undergirding all of the weight, stress, and strain for the millions of cars, trucks, and semi-trucks traveling across the four lanes of this bridge in order for it to hold up.  And the people that drive across that bridge HAVE to trust in that support system.

We have our own support system that undergirds us, and holds us up.  HIS arms are stronger than any concrete or steel ever manufactured, and they NEVER grow tired.  His name is “El Gibbor”, the MIGHTY God, and He never slumbers, nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4), but faithfully watches over us, that we may rest.

“I will lie down and sleep in peace; for, Adonai, you alone make me live securely.”  (Psalm 4:8 CJB)

“The Lord provides for those he loves, even while they are sleeping.”  (Psalm 127:2 ERV)

Twists and Turns

Blessed are YOU, YHWH our God, King of the universe.  You, by Your example, reveal to us all that we are NOT.  You then patiently take us by the hand, turn us around, and show us how to achieve what YOU desire us to be.  Many are the circumstances, the twists and turns in the path of life that we stumble through.  From each one we pull a valuable lesson, always pressing on toward that goal in Messiah Y’shua.  At each turn, we leave more unnecessary baggage, cut off more flesh, eat more of the humble pie that tastes remarkably like TORAH, and gives us LIFE.  And through it all, we love You more, for we know that as ALL things are working together for our good, we WILL come forth as pure gold.  Thank You, “Elohim Avinu”, God our Father.

“Still, you want TRUTH in the inner person; so make me know wisdom in my inmost heart.”  (Psalm 51:6 CJB, emphasis mine)

̛Emet” (Strong’s #H571) is the Hebrew word for ‘truth’, and it is a foundational word to LIFE.  In the Hebrew language, the word ̛ emet” is spelled with three letters, the first, middle, and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet.  Ancient Jewish wisdom has  interpreted this  to mean that truth bonds everything YHWH created together, from the first to the last, including ALL that is in the middle.  Truth denotes a dependability, a reliability, a trustworthiness, and something, or someone, that you can stake your life on.  And that is exactly what we do, when we take our Messiah Y’shua at HIS word:

“Yeshua said, "I AM the Way — and THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE; no one comes to the Father except through me.”  (John 14:6 CJB, emphasis mine)

However, truth is also an intense light (see John 8:12), and will bring under inspection certain areas of our lives that might not be lining up quite like they should be.  ABBA Father is in the business of character building, and prefers to use His word, His Torah, as the means to accomplish this goal.  May we all be sensitive to the voice of the Spirit of TRUTH, the Holy Spirit, as He teaches and instructs us from the words of LIFE.  It is by the washing of the water of the WORD that we are sanctified and cleansed (Ephesians 5:26).

“Your righteousness is eternal righteousness, and your Torah is truth.”  (Psalm 119:142 CJB)

“Set them apart for holiness by means of the truth — your word is truth.”  (John 17:17 CJB)

I spread forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts after You like a thirsty land [for water]. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!”  (Psalm 143:6 Amp)

The drought conditions we have been experiencing here in the United States in the last two years has been an on again/off again story, and the resulting fires caused by the dry conditions have been heart breaking, as we watch families lose their homes, belongings, and even their lives, to these merciless forces of nature.  A lack of water IN, and ON, the land is a serious and critical issue, one that we have little means of alleviating in our own human capacity.  It is Adonai Elohim , the Lord God, who gives us rain in due season, but when the heavens are shut up, we pray, and trust in our Creator.

However, consider the lack of ‘spiritual’ water in our personal lives.  THIS water is NOT in short supply, and we have no reason for a ‘dry’ condition in our spirit man.  If we have searched our hearts, and KNOW that there is nothing to hinder fellowship with our ‘YAH’ (Psalm 139:23), why are we neglecting the source of this life-giving water?  Do we really believe that we can exist without a continual, fresh supply?  Without this fresh supply, we run the risk of becoming dry, brittle, or perhaps even ‘stagnant’, lacking the aroma of life that only Messiah Y’shua can bring …

“WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing].”  (Isaiah 55:1 Amp)

"I, Yeshua, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Messianic communities. I am the Root and Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star. The Spirit and the Bride say, 'COME!' Let anyone who hears say, 'COME!' And let anyone who is thirsty COME — let anyone who wishes, take the water of life free of charge."  (Revelation 22:16-17 CJB, emphasis mine)

His Treasured Possession

“In this vein have those who revere the Lord been talking to one another.  The Lord has heard and noted it, and a scroll of remembrance has been written at His behest concerning those who revere the Lord and esteem His name. And on the day that I am preparing, said the Lord of Hosts, they shall be MY TREASURED POSSESSION; I will be tender toward them as a man is tender toward a son who ministers to him.”  (Malachi 3:16-18 Jewish Study Bible, Tanakh Translation, emphasis mine)

When we are gathered together in fellowship, speaking of things concerning Adonai YHVH, it comes as no surprise that He hears and notes everything that we say and discuss.  When we are careful to show Him all of the love, reverence, and honor that is due Him for WHO He is, He is just as careful to make note of it.  But to realize that a record book is being kept of these discussions is something that bears further meditation.

Therefore, as these days of darkness grow increasing darker, let us be all that much more adamant to reverence, treat with love, care, and respect, YHVH’s Torah, His LIVING Word.  When we talk of the splendor and majesty of the ‘El-Shaddai’, the ALL-Mighty God, let us do so with awe and wonder.  Are both the written, AND the Living Word, Messiah Y’shua, the ‘treasured possession’ in OUR hearts as we desire to be in HIS?

“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my TREASURED POSSESSION. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”  (Exodus 19:5-6 NIV, emphasis mine)

My Instructors

Blessed are You, YHWH our God, King of the universe, who hand-picked all the instructors and teachers you wished me to learn from, and those I am STILL learning from.  Step by step, line upon line, precept by precept, You have shown me those I was to walk with, observe, and allow to mentor and disciple me.  And You have been faithful to reveal to me when each season was fulfilled and completed, and all of the knowledge absorbed.  Thank YOU, my ABBA, for the lesson You have taught me concerning the safety in submission, for as I submit to You, and those who have the rule and authority over me, I will always be in right relationship with You.  My “El Hanne’eman”, my Faithful God, as long as my hand remains in Yours, I know that my steps will always be ordered aright.  Hallelu-YAH!

Great was the Fall

“And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell--and great and complete was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:27 Amp)

A little over a year ago, my husband and I suffered through a particularly severe storm, which announced itself with loud, howling winds.  One of our older cottonwood trees (it stood by the creek that runs through the bottom part of our property) was snapped off approximately 6 feet above the ground, just like it was a tooth-pick. What was equally shocking to see was how rotten the inside of this tree was.  Most of the main part of the trunk was hollow with rot, while the upper part of the tree limbs were still green and firm, covered with leaves, and the appearance of life and health.

My husband and I stood and contemplated this tree for about a week, where it had fallen: half on one side of the creek, and the remaining half on the other side of the creek, with many, many branches trailing IN the creek.  We praised ABBA Father for the steep sides of the banks at that particular spot, for the downed tree was not causing the creek to dam up, at least not this late in the summer. But we knew that we would have to DO something … And all I could hear was the portion of the verse, “great is the fall of it.”

Not really understanding what YHVH was trying to show me through the destruction of this tree, I knew that the cleanup process would be a back-breaking ordeal.  Cottonwood absorbs water, and when it is green, it is incredibly heavy.  As a tree, it also has many small branches and twigs; all of these would have to be cut away before my husband could even get to the main branches and eventually, the trunk of the tree, with his chain saw.  It was as we worked at the cleanup process that the representation began to unfold before me.  There were times when I had to stop, and literally sit down and weep at the parable YAH was showing me – all through this one, half-rotten, half-alive tree.

There are those within the body of Messiah, within the church world, who claim to have accepted Y’shua of Nazareth as their Master and Savior, and are adamant about heaven being their final destination.  Yet this “elite” group of people have little or no use for the Torah, seldom turn to any of the pages within the Old Testament, and base their entire relationship with the Father on the RE-NEWED covenant, completely ignoring any covenant that may have previously had any bearing on the present one.  Consequently, they are like a tree that is hollow in the middle.  There is no depth or foundation to their RELATIONSHIP with Adonai YHVH – for that is what a ‘covenant’ is: a relationship - no sustenance to continually feed them, even through the drought and lean years.  By appearance, they seem to be green and flourishing, healthy and strong, but let disaster strike, let a strong wind come howling through, and this is when the rotten core is made visible and naked.  “Great is the fall of it,” and the “cleanup process” is a long and back-breaking ordeal for ALL of those involved.

Before we start mentally thinking of THIS person that might fit this pictures, or THAT person that could fit into the frame, Adonai YHVH specifically admonishes us to look to ourselves:

“But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor.”  (Galatians 6:4 Amp)

What is OUR foundation?  Are we building OUR house upon the Rock, who is the LIVING Torah, the Living Word?  Y’shua is the same Rock in Matthew 7: 24-27 as He was for Moses and the children of Israel at the waters of Massah (Exodus 17:6).  He is the same Bread of Life in John 6:35 as He was for the children of Israel for 40 years of wandering in the desert (John 6:32; Exodus 16:15).  Even our Lord built His own life from the foundation of the Torah, and applied its principles to everything He said and did.  He HAD to, otherwise He would not have been the perfect, acceptable sacrifice.  And we learn also from the Word that when Messiah Y’shua was tempted by the adversary in Matthew 4:1-10, every reply that our Lord gave to the enemy was taken from the Torah, the basic FOUNDATION of the Word of God.

Every carpenter and building contractor will agree that if we do not have a solid foundation to our house, severe problems will eventually cause the ruin of that house.  It is time, brothers and sisters, to tend to OUR foundation, before danger sets in, and “great is the fall of it”.   Let us begin today, and learn of our roots, of where it all began, and why.  Let us ask the ‘Ruach Hakodesh’, the Holy Spirit, to be our teacher and guide, for that is what He is, and what He is called to do.

My husband and I will plant more trees, and we believe that there will be another cottonwood tree sprout and come up in the vicinity of where this one blew over.  The root system is still alive, and very extensive.  We will nurture it, tend to it, and watch over it carefully, pruning it when it needs it, fertilizing it when it needs it, and more than anything, praying over it.

“You have been built on the foundation of the emissaries and the prophets, with the cornerstone being Yeshua the Messiah himself. In union with him the whole building is held together, and it is growing into a holy temple in union with the Lord. Yes, in union with him, you yourselves are being built together into a spiritual dwelling-place for God!”  (Ephesians 2:20:22 CJB)

TORAH Foundation

Blessed are you, Adonai our God, King of the universe, who has given us TORAH.  These are the instructions and teachings of YOUR Word, instructions in righteousness that we can build our lives upon, a foundation that has stood firm and strong through the test of time. We stand in awe, “El Tsaddik”, our Righteous God, that because of the RENEWED covenant we have through the shed blood of our Messiah Y’shua, TORAH is now written on the pages of our hearts!  Thank You, Adonai YHWH, for the ‘Ruach HaKodesh’, the HOLY Spirit of God, who opens WIDE the eyes of our understanding, teaching us, leading us, and revealing to us the hidden things from Your amazing Word!  We delight in Your Word, and we treasure it above all else! Hallelu-YAH!
